Persolite Products was incorporated in 1949, with Herman Freudenberg as the principal member of Management and Technical Director. As a new company, in an infant industry, it was based on Curtis Street in Denver, Colorado, for eight years.

In 1957, the company moved from the big city to Florence, Colorado, into the plant formerly occupied by Alexander Film, and Great Lakes Carbon, pioneers in the Perlite Industry. Using old Alexite Ore from Rosita, Colorado, the company produced primarily concrete and plaster aggregate in rotary, horizontal furnaces.

The 1970's brought changes in processes, products, and proprietors; gone were the old horizontal furnaces, replaced by more efficient vertical furnaces. Concrete and plaster were gradually supplanted by block fill insulation, horticultural, and texture grades of perlite.

Today, Persolite Products, Inc., is family-owned and operated. We are a long-time member of the Perlite Institute (, an old company in the industry, and looking forward to changes and challenges in the perlite industry, from a position of more than fifty years of experience. We are dedicated to quality, innovation and affordable products.
